Henry Helm Bawden, age 79, died Thursday, August 29, 1996, at his home.

He was born July 3, 1917, in Granger, Utah, to Orin Raymond and Mable Clara Helm Bawden. Married Mary Elaine Wheatley, June 8, 1949, in the Logan LDS Temple. Henry was a farmer all his life and loved to grow flowers. He was a school teacher at Granger High for over 20 years and taught for two years at Bennion Jr. High. He taught swimming, diving, physics, earth science, agriculure, math, stage production, and auto mechanics to many good students. A veteran of World War II with rank of 2nd Lieutenant.

He served in many LDS ward and stake positions. Served an LDS Mission to Texas Louisiana and was bishop of his ward. He supported Boy Scout activities, enjoyed music and drama all his life.

Survived by his wife, Mary Elaine Bawden; sister, Bernice Jenkins; sons, Orin (Dixie); Lawrence (Donna); and Robin (Wendi); daughters, Dagmar; Marilane; and Peggy Harnish (Jay); and 24 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Henry Lane; and sisters, Clara Bendixson; and Louvina Hendrickson; and brother Raymond.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 3, 1996, at 12 noon at the Salt Lake Jordan Stake Center, 3700 West 4700 South. Friends may call Monday evening, September 2, from 6-8 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, and at the church, Tuesday, 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Elysian Burial Gardens. Funeral Directors, Valley View Funeral Home.
