Lewin Rites Held Wednesday


Funeral services for Mrs. Raymond (Martha L.) Lewin, 76, were to be conducted by Pastor Stan Lillich at St. John's Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Lewin died Sunday, Jan. 4, at 7:10 p.m. at Riverview Care Center following a lingering illness.


Burial was to be in Ceres Cemetery, rural Garnavillo, with the following pallbearers: Elmer Schaub, Bill Schaub, George Maier, Arthur Maier, Chris Bauer and Bill Straus.


Mrs. Lewin was born July 3,1899, in Garnavillo, the daughter of Traugott Schaub and Minnie Nuebecker Schuab. On Dec. 4, 1919, she was married at Guttenberg to Raymond Lewin, who survives.


Other survivors are one son, Robert of Guttenberg and one daughter, Mrs. Earl (Romilda) Clefisch of Waverly; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Anna Maier of Littleport.
