Services Held for Ray Lewin, 94
Services for Raymond "Ray" Lewin, 94, of Guttenberg were held on Sunday, Sept. 8, at 1:30 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church and were conducted by the Rev. L.R. Lechner.
Mr. Lewin died Thursday, Sept. 5, 1991 at the Guttenberg Care Center.
Visitation was at the Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home.
Burial was in Ceres cemetery, rural Garnavillo, with the following pallbearers: Christ Bauer, George Maier, Alvin Maier, Verdus Schroeder, Floyd Schroeder and Elmer Schaub.
Raymond John Lewin was born in rural Guttenberg on May 18, 1897 to John and Ernestine (Lewin) Lewin. He attended rural schools. He was married Dec. 4, 1919 at St. John's Church to Martha L. Schaub, who died Jan. 4, 1976. He farmed in rural Garnavillo until 1944 when they moved to Guttenberg where he was a carpenter until his retirement in 1969.
He is survived by a son, Robert, of Guttenberg; a daughter, Mrs. Earl (Romilda) Clefisch of Waverly; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ervin and Willis, and five sisters, Minnie, Hildegard, Erna, Louisa and Leona.
