Dorothy Esther Devereaux, 100, Creston, was born to Charles and Alex Gossard Keesler on Dec. 22, 1894, in rural Adams County. She died Oct. 21, 1995, at Crest Haven Care Center in Creston.

After graduating from school in Corning she taught in the rural school until her marriage to John M. Devereaux May 9, 1916, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Corning. They farmed in the Kent and Carbon areas until moving to a farm north of Corning where they lived until moving to Creston In 1961.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons George, Eddie, and Jake; daughters Rosalie and Barbara Lee who died in infancy; sister Doris O'Riley; brothers Harold, Verne, and Orris Keesler; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She is survived by her daughters Mary (husband Kenneth) Bissell, Creston, Lucretia "Tete" Bakerink, Creston, and Carmelita (husband Arthur) Smith, Hot Springs, Ark.; son Carl "Buck" (wife Jean) Devereaux, Bloomfield; daughter-in-law Dorothy Devereaux, Omaha, Neb.; sister Lucy Keesler, Creston; 28 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; and 31 great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held Oct. 24 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Creston with Rev. Dan Siepker officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Corning.

Casket bearers were Bob Vest, Ed Hawkins, Dick Bissell, Charles Devereaux, Carl Devereaux, and Jim Bakerink.

Honorary bearers were Ron Watson, Chris Vest, Paul Miller, Roland Miller, Lowell Pettit, Glen D. Devereaux, Carlon Devereaux, Jake Williamson, Kenny Germany, and Jim Devereaux.
