He was united in marriage May 19, 1914 to Dorothy E. Keesler at St. Patrick church in Corning.
He is survived by his wife; seven children, George of Atlantic, Ed of Omaha, Nebr.; John M. of Rockwell City, Mrs. Kenneth (Mary) Bissell of Creston, Mrs. Art (Lucretia) Bakerink of Creston, Carl of Corning, Mrs. A. W. (Carmelita) Smith of Canutillo, Texas; three sons-in-law; three daughters-in-law; 26 grandchildren; four sisters; one brother; a host of other relatives and friends.
He grew to manhood in Adams county where he farmed until 1959 when he and his wife moved to Creston.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters; four grandchildren; one daughter-in-law; two brothers; two sisters.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 6, at 9 a.m. from St. Patrick church in Corning with Father Weiss officiating. Pallbearers were grandsons, Charles Devereaux, Carlen Devereaux, Carl Devereaux, Mike Devereaux, all of Omaha, Nebraska, John Bakerink and Dick Bissell of Creston. Interment was in Calvary cemetery.
