Garnett Mark "Jim" Brubaker Sr., 95, of Catonsville and formerly of Severna Park and Magothy Manor, died Jan. 8, 2009, at the Dorsey Center in Charlestown Retirement Community.
Mr. Brubaker was born Nov. 14, 1913, in Chambersburg, Pa., to the late Dr. Granville M. and Ida M. (Stoner) Brubaker.
He worked for Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. as a customer service technician for 27 years until he retired in 1976.
In October 1941, from Winchester, VA, he entered into Army service, serving until the end of World War II in 1945.
He served as a staff sergeant in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was stationed in North Africa and Italy.
He was a past member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, American Legion Post #175, BGE Retirees Association and the Elks of Severna Park, where he was the oldest living WWII veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Christine Cluverius Brubaker; one brother; and four sisters.
Survivors include two sons, two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial mass was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12 at Our Lady of Angels in Charlestown Retirement Community, Catonsville. Arrangements by Stallings Funeral Home.
