William McKell, born 1784 in County Armagh, Ireland, the son of Samuel McKell. Little is known about William, prior to his arrival in America in 1810. It is believed William was brought over by The Montgomery Family, as a tutor for their children.
In 1812, William McKell married Elizabeth "Betsy" Bell, a daughter of William and Margaret Bell. There are four known children born to this union:
David (1813-1855)
James (1815-1867)
Nancy {m. Cross}(1818-1869)
Jane {m. Muse}(1821-1888)

William McKell departed his earthly life on July 13th 1821 in the 37th year of his age. In his Last Will & Testament; signed on the 7th day of July 1821 – William leaves an estate of several properties to his wife and surviving children; with a desire for funds to be used for education of his children. His wife, Betsy and brother-in-law, William Bell, Jr. are the executors of mentioned will.

William McKell was laid to rest in the churchyard cemetery at Old Brick A.R.P. near Little River in Fairfield County, South Carolina.

The final accounting before the Court of Ordinary was dated November 8th 1831.
