Mr. Arnold Ivan Johnson, 70, of 1641 Denny Road died June 29, 2002, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
He was born Jan. 2, 1932 in Surry County to the late Jonas and Nonnie Alma Wall Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a farmer and an avid beekeeper. Mr. Johnson was also earlier employed as a rail dock worker. He was a member of King Moravian Church. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Tony Riddle of King; a son and daughter-in-law, Arnold Ivan Johnson Jr. and wife Sandra of Siloam; four grandchildren: Daniel Wade of Durham, Meriella Andrews of King, Ashley Wall of Siloam, and Tyler Hutchens of Siloam; three great-grandchildren: Sarah Brooke Andrews, Kymberly Rae Andrews, and Colin Gray Wade; a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Denny Wood of Boonville; two brothers and sisters-in-law: J.C. and Vikki Johnson of Siloam and Dennis and Eunice Johnson of Boonville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Merivale N. Johnson; a sister, Mildred Mains; and a brother, Otis Johnson. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2002, at Howell Funeral Chapel of Pilot Mountain conducted by the Rev. Jimmie Lee Newsome and the Rev. Clayton Tilley with interment to follow at King Moravian God's Acre. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Sunday night, June 30, at Howell Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain.
