Mr. Dennis Virgil Johnson, 73, of Reece Road, Boonville, went home Thursday, May 31, 2007, to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at his home. He was born July 28, 1933, in Surry County to the late Jonas and Alma Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a retired farmer, carpenter and member of Little Mountain Baptist Church in Aarat, as long as his health permitted. He was a strong Christian man, faithful husband and loving father, grandfather and friend for his family, whom he loved dearly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Adams; brothers Otis Johnson and Arnold Johnson; and a son-in-law, James "Shorty" Armstrong. Surviving are his devoted wife of 52 years, Eunice Johnson, of the home; a son, Todd (Sandi) Johnson, of Boonville; daughters Becky (Jeffrey) Smith of Boonville and Debbie Armstrong of Hamptonville; grandchildren Tracy Frye, Heather Smith, Amber Smith, Matthew Johnson and Hunter Johnson; brother J.C. (Vikki) Johnson; and a sister, Judy (Denny) Wood. His funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at Gentry Family Chapel, with the Rev. Bill Watson and the Rev. Toby Tilley officiating. Burial will follow in Little Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, June 1, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, P.O. Box 1267, Yadkinville, NC 27055. The family would like to express their gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice, especially Lynn and Mike, for all the loving care given to Mr. Johnson.
