Addison was the son of Elijah and Narcissa (Simmons) Sproles. His father was in the Confederate Army and is said to have lost his life in the defense of Vicksburg. His mother remarried but when she died sometime prior to 1880, Addison and his brother James and sister Theodosia, now orphaned, came to live with his mother's family in Greenwood. Addison married Janie A. Donald at Greenwood Oct 4, 1882. He was a superintendent for the Greenwood utilities company (water & lights). Addison and Janie had a daughter, Ella Theodosia (named for Addison's sister) who married F.M. Boland, Sr.
