John Hannah, (sic) an old resident of this township died at his home 3 miles east of Browns Valley on Sunday after a painful illness. The immediate cause of death was gastritis. The funeral services at the Browns Valley Baptist Church were conducted by Rev. J.W. Kendall of Pleasant Lake, after which the interment took place at Freedom Cemetery north of town. Those present from Waveland were W.S. Goslin and wife, Joe Hicks and wife, Mrs. Harry English, Rev. L.F. Galey and wife, T.L. Hanna, Mrs. Penn Hanna, Mrs. David Demaree, Theodore Sharp, W.R. Kelso and wife, Mrs. John Rice and Mrs. Jap Rice. Mr. Hanna was born in Kentucky over 71 years ago, and was one of a family of 11 children of whom 4 survive: Adam, George and Thomas and Mrs. David Neely. Mr. Hanna was a prominent member of the Baptist Church.
