Civil War Union Army Soldier. He was mustered in as a Private in Company B, 93rd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, on February 19, 1864. He was wounded at the Battle of the Wilderness, Virginia, May 5, 1864, and was discharged due to disability on a Surgeon's Certificate on June 15, 1865.
