June 11, 1836, Franklin, Vermont; educated at Bakersfield academy and taught school several years; married January 4, 1860, at Franklin, Vermont, JOHN KNOWLES LANGDON MAYNARD, born July 26, 1829, Bakersfield, Vt., son of Jesse Knowles Maynard and wife Lucy Taylor; he studied law and in 1856 opened a law office at Janesville, Iowa, with a branch office in Magnolia [Iowa]; his voice failed and in 1860; he went into the newspaper business at Waverly, Iowa, at the same time serving as postmaster ten years; he also served one term in the State Legislature. He retired to his farm near Janesville, [Iowa], where he died April 9, 1903; she died March 30, 1910.
