C E Battershell Dies Saturday at Danville
Charles E Battershell, 87, of Rossville, died at 3:20 pm, Saturday, November 26, 1966 at the St Elizabeth Hospital in Danville where he had been a patient 17 days. He had been seriously ill three weeks.
Mr Battershell was born December 22, 1878 in Rantoul, the son of James and Rebecca Montsboughter (Matzabaugher) Battershell. He was married February 15, 1905, in Danville to Martha Esworthy, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs Rebecca Bray of Rossville and Mrs Lawrence (Martha) Ellis of Danville; two sisters, Mrs Effie Robertson of Danville and Mrs Isabel Kirkpatrick of Frankfort, Indiana; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Mr Battershell was a member of the Bismarck Methodist Church for more than 50 years.
Services were held at 2 pm Monday at the Young Funeral Home with the Rev Theodore M Snider, minister of the Bismarck Methodist Church, officiating.
F C Reinhold, organist, played "Beyond the Sunset" and "Good Night and Good Morning."
Burial was in the Potomac Cemetery.
