Obit: George Walter Battershell, 82, died at 1:10 p.m. Monday of complications from pneumonia in the home of a son, Leo Battershell, in Kirklin Township, where the father had lived for the last year and a half during his illness.

Born May 9, 1872, in Champaign, Illinois, son of James and Rebecca Battershell, he was married December 27, 1899, to Rilla Victoria Divan, who died July 9, 1916. He was a member of the Kirklin Church of God.

Surviving are three sons, Leo S. Battershell, Kirklin Township, Harold D. Battershell of Detroit, and Carl C. Battershell, of Gary; two daughters, Mrs. Erma Wire of Sheridan, and Miss Zema Battershell, Kirklin Township; a sister, Mrs. Isabelle Kirkpatrick, Frankfort route 3, and a sister and brother in Illinois; five grandsons and one great-grandson.
