Doris Harward of San Diego, CA, passed away October 17, 2006. She was 80. Doris was born in Talihina, Oklahoma, July 30, 1926. Her parents were Dorothy and Phillip Bollinger. Doris spent much of her young life moving around with her parents and three brothers as part of the oil boom in Oklahoma and Texas. It wasn't until her family moved to Provo, Utah that Doris' life changed forever. It was there that Doris met the love of her life, a young Marine Corps Sgt, Theron Harward. They were married June 1, 1944 and spent 62 wonderful years together. It was a life filled with travel, family and special friendships. Doris and Theron spent many years traveling the country, early on with a car full of camping gear and two small children, and later with a travel trailer following behind. But it was Doris' love of family that was the center of her life. You could always find her surrounded by family, cooking meals, doing the smallest things to make life easier for others, and always sharing about how proud she was of her family. Her generous spirit was felt by all. The beloved wife, mom, nana, sister, aunt and friend touched so many lives. She is survived by her husband Theron, daughters Linda Sunkel and Jeannette Lapota of San Diego, CA, sons-in-law John Sunkel and David Lapota; granddaughter Deanna Burgum of Tacoma WA; brothers Phil Bollinger of Hercules, CA, John Bollinger of Boulder Creek, CA, Paul Bollinger of Meadow Vista, CA, and so many special family and friends. Doris, you are loved. We will miss your strength, your generosity and your caring spirit. You will live on in our hearts forever. A celebration of Doris' life will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 27th at Palisades Presbyterian Church. Private inurnment at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.
