Toledo - Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at First Methodist Church for Mrs. Richard Mason, who would have been 101 June 22. Mrs. Mason died at the Iowa Soldier's Home at Marshalltown Tuesday night following a short illness.
The Rev. Lamont C. Smith, Toledo, will be in charge of the service. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Mason was born Sarah Ann Beery June 22, 1854, near Lancaster, Ohio, a daughter of Samuel E. and Mary Ann Hammitt Beery. The family came to Toledo by covered wagon in 1862.
She was married March 6, 1872 and lived in Tama County except for two years in Kansas and Nebraska. Mr. Mason died in 1923. Two of their children, B. R. Mason and Mrs. Arthur Kenner, preceded her in death.
Four children survive: A. A. Mason, Marshalltown; Mrs. Floyd Blake, Mrs. George Ebersole and Carl L. Mason, Toledo. There are 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.
Five years ago, while making her home with Mrs. Ebersole, Mrs. Mason suffered a fractured hip in a fall. She has been in the Marshalltown hospital since then
