Son of George Beery (1805-1872) & Sarah Engle (1805-1867). Grandson of Christian Beery (1777-1836) & Catherine Frank (1775-1838). Cousin of Iddo Beery (1837-1913). Married Mary Ann Hammitt 20 May 1851 in Fairfield County, Ohio. Father to Oliver Davis, Sarah Ann, George Wesley, Caroline Virginia, Ida Cecilia, Elizabeth Luella, Charles Franklin, Emma Edna, Lillie Jennett, Lottie May, and Louis Edgar.

Mr. Samuel Beery, Aged 81 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. F. Krause, this morning at 2 o'clock. Mr. Beery was a resident of Garwin, Iowa, where he spent most of his life. A short funeral service was held at the Sleeper undertaking parlor this morning, Rev. B. M. Powell officiating. The body was shipped to Garwin this afternoon, the following relatives accompanying: Mrs. Krause, George and James Hammitt of Garwin, Mrs. Wm. Shrader of Garwin, Mrs. Wm. Youngman of Toledo, Iowa, Mrs. George Beery of Beeman, Iowa.
