Waldron- Paul L. Balis, 74, of 125 Larry Dr., Waldron, died Thursday (April 1, 1993) in St. Joseph Hospital, Ann Arbor. Born in Williams Co., Ohio, Feb. 3, 1919, to John and Gertie Rininger Balis, he was a lifelong Waldron area resident. A 1937 graduate of Waldron High School, he was a retired farmer; and was a former employee of Hayes-Albion, Jackson. Mr. Balis was a World War II U.S.Army veteran; a member of the Waldron Church of Christ; and a life member of Post #5191 VFW, Waldron. March 26, 1944, he married the former Lorraine Bell and she survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Beverly Blais, Waldron; one son, Garald of Waldron; four sisters, Velma Douglas, Camden, Mary Williams, Pittsford, Maggie Clark, Waldron, and Helen Perterson, Julian, Calif.; two brothers, Donald of Morenci, and Fred of Atlanta, Ga.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, two sisters and one brother. The funeral is at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Waldron Church of Christ with the Rev. Russ Hodgeman officiating. Burial will be in Waldron Cemetery. Visition is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9pm. Saturday in the Eagle Funeral Home, Waldron. Memorials are suggested to the Waldron Church of Christ or the American Heart Association.
