War of 1812 served as a Private US Rifle Co under Capt Joseph C Bett's Company and Capt Benjamin Mosley's 28 Reg't of Infantry. Enlisted 26 Apr 1812 in Flemingsburg and was honorably discharged at Detroit on the 15 Jul 1816. He had participated in battles in upper Canada at which he was wounded in the head. Alexander served with his five brothers in the War - Samuel, Adam, James, William and John
