Were it not for the precious promises of a reunion beyond, Melvin Adams would be the sufferer of a loss no power could restore. Dec. 14, his wife, Lillie, passed to the great beyond after a long illness, the direct result of typhoid fever. The funeral was held at Leisure, Dec. 17, by Rev. J. A. Blinkerstaff of the U. B. church. The remains were brought here for burial. On the same day of this sad experience the little son, Lloyd Melvin. died of spinal meningitis, having been ill two weeks. The little one was nearly two years old. The remains were also interred here Tuesday, after the mother was laid at rest Sunday. Mrs. Adams leaves parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Smith, and one sister, Mrs. Samuel McCormick, besides the husband and little Bessie, five years old, who will live with her aunt, Mrs. Chas. Martin of this place. Mrs. Adams was only twenty-seven years old, and life was never brighter for this young couple than when death made wreck of it. Allegan Gazette December 23, 1905 page 5
