Christian was the 4th of 12 children that were born to Knute and Betsy . He was born Aug 1. 1871in Nevada township, Mower Co., Minnesota which is near a small town called Lyle, which is right on the southern boarder of Minnesota. Chris moved with his family to La Center, Clark Co., Washington Territory, a small town north of Vancouver, Washington, sometime in 1888. Chris would have been 17. He was living with his family when they moved to Canby, Oregon about 1889.

Like Theodore, Chris was listed as living with the family in the 1900 Census at the Harding Precinct, (Logan) Clackamas Co., farm. He may also have been working away from home as he was 28 years old and was listed as a farm laborer.

No 1910 Census record of Chris has been found yet (2008). Rollin relates that when he and his parents arrived at Martin's Madras place Jan. of 1913, Chris along with Theodore was there. Rollin also says that Chris acquired the Pleasent Hill farm about 1914. Chris's obituary says that Chris moved to Pleasent Hill in 1917.
