Edith Evelyn Shelton, age 96, died Friday, July 10, 2009. She was born June 3, 1913 in Ryan, Oklahoma, to Andrew J. and Mary Lula (Melton) Phagans and grew in Ryan. She married Alvin Shelton in September of 1929 at Comanche, Oklahoma, and lived in Ryan until 1950 when they moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She worked many years at 7-UP Bottling Company and later for Kerr-McGee Oil Company and was Methodist. She moved to Mustang, Oklahoma, 9 years ago. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alvin, one daughter Theresa, one son Arnold and her siblings. Survivors include two grandsons, Billy and Andy, two granddaughters Wanda and Barbara and daughter-in-law, Wilma Shelton. Also by her adopted family and care givers Raul and Herminia Estrada of Mustang and their family, Adrian, Darwin, and Kerlin Estrada and Laurie and Javes Martinez.
A time of remembrance will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, July 19, 2009 at McNeil's Mustang Funeral Service, Mustang, Oklahomam with interment following at 2:30pm at Ryan Cemetery, Ryan, Oklahoma.
