Arbelle Webber Barkemeyer, 97, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at her residence. She was born Jan. 27, 1912, in Clay County to Benjamin Franklin Webber and Della Cliett. She was a member of Siloam Baptist Church and a retired school teacher. She was the first special education teacher in the West Point School District.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Siloam Baptist Church. The Rev. Payton Myers will officiate. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery. Robinson Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her daughter, Sylvia Williams (Joel) of West Point; her son, Eric Barkemeyer (Nancy) of Davidson, N.C.; four grandchildren, Ginger Harvey of Benton, Ky., Forrest Williams of Pass Christian, Julie Barkemeyer of Washington D.C. and Richmond Barkemeyer, stationed in Iraq; three great-grandchildren, Patrick Harvey, Caitlin Harvey and Walker Williams; a brother, Leslie Webber of Montpelier.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Barkemeyer.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Brand, Patrick Harvey, Michael Harvey, Ernest Cothran, Forrest Harvey and Charles Waide. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. T.N. Braddock, Delores Manning, Juanita Manning, Bobbie Crowley, Rosie Vance, Annie Bess Wyatt and Richmond Barkemeyer.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to service time Saturday at the church.
