REESE WILLIAM SUMRALL
JANUARY 19, 1914 - SEPTEMBER 25, 2009

Reese William Sumrall, 95, passed away at his home early Friday morning. He came to Pensacola in 1953 from Louisiana with Monsanto when it was Chemstrand. He retired as a shift supervisor in 1979. Shortly after, he joined the staff at Faith Chapel Funeral Home and worked for sixteen years. Reese was an expert bass fisherman and enjoyed many fishing trips with relatives and friends. He was a long time member of East Brent Baptist Church. Reese rarely met a stranger and was always ready with a humorous tale.
Reese is predeceased by his wife, Edelene Sumrall.
He is survived by his brother, Harry (Lawana) Sumrall of Baton Rouge, La.; his four daughters, Sylvia (Rod) Smith, Patricia Harvill, Sally (Eddie) Goodwin, and Susan (David) Rigby, of Pensacola; his son, Reese (Melba) Sumrall, Jr., Charlotte, NC; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews.
Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, September 27, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. conducted by the Reverend Dale Patterson at FAITH CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME NORTH, 1000 Hwy 29 Cantonment.
Burial will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Reese's grandsons.
The family wishes to thank the caregivers, Jay Eubanks, Joyce Howell, Margaret Lingerfelt, Chris Morrow, Jean Peacock, and Malcolm (Woody) Peacock, and Covenant Hospice, for the excellent and compassionate care Reese received which allowed him to stay in the home he had built almost fifty years ago.
