Joseph (went by Joe) Rothrock was the eighth of nine children of Solomon Rothrock (1786-1867) and Sarah (went by Sally) Clark Rothrock (1795-1860), who married c1815 at Oneida County, New York.
Joe married Sarah Margaret (went by Margaret) Bell (1838-1928) on 24 May 1860 at Crawford County, Indiana. Joe mustered in as a Private with Company H, 81st Indiana Infantry on 29 Aug 1862 and mustered out on 13 Jun 1865.
Joe and Margaret were the parents of five known children, namely:
1. Alexander Rothrock (1863-1891)
2. Julia A. Rothrock (1866-???)
3. Louisa Rothrock (1868-???)
4. Rose Rothrock (1869-???)
5. Willard Rothrock Blair Duke (1873-1955)
