OBITUARY-THE TECUMSEH CHIEFTAIN
JUNE 16, 1906

MAE SHERMAN ELLSWORTH

Mrs. Mae Sherman Ellsworth departed this life, at the home of her parents, Mr. And Mrs. Abe Sherman of Tecumseh at 3:15 o,clock p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 1906, after months of suffering, of tuburculosis.
Mae Sherman, was born in Tecumseh, May 31, 1873, and her age therefore was thirty three years and twelve days. Most of her life was spent here and she was well known. In 1895 she was married to Bert Ellsworth, and one child, Dean, was born to them, now a boy of nine years. Other near relatives to survive her are her parents, her twin brother, Rhea Sherman, of San Bernadino, Cal., and a sister, Mrs. W. E. Mills of Santa Monica, Cal. In addition to these she leaves many other distant relatives, and a very wide circle of friends to mourn her demise.
In early childhood the deceased gave her heart to Christ, uniting with the Christain church of this city, and she lead a sweet and beautiful life. For many months she had been in poor health, being in a critical condition since last Christmas, and being confined to her bed for three weeks. She was naturally of a quiet and retiring temperament, but in disposistion particularly bright and hopeful, these qualities being more strongly marked throughout the period of her long illness and suffering. She welcomed every friend with a smile, and made a constant effort to guard the extent of her suffering from her loved ones. In there presence she was ever bright and hopeful, while during the silent watches of the night, when pain refused the relief of sleep, she faced the thought of a possible separation that was coming to them, and gained the strength that made her willing to leave it all with her Heavenly Father.
Every effort was made to save her; every care and attention given her that human thought and love could devise, but all was of no avail, and now that she has fallen asleep her relatives are sustained and inspired by the precious memory and lasting fragrance of her patience and courage.
The funeral will be held at the Christian church, Friday afternoon, June 15, at 2 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Elder A. L. Zink.
Members of the local lodges of Royal Highlanders and Ladies of Security, of which deceased was a member, will attend the obsequies.
Burial will be made in the Tecumseh cemetery, the same being in charge of the Royal Highlanders.
