Services were held on Wednesday afternoon December 18 in the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel for Mrs. Grace Jewell Jean, 70, who died at Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital Monday, December 16. The Rev. Harold Wilder officiated and burial was in Little Prairie Cemetery.
Mrs. Jean was born at Cottonwood Point December 8, 1898, the daughter of Dave and Ida Abbott. She was reared in that area and was a member of the Baptist Church.
In Caruthersville, on December 18, 1921, she was married to William Scott Jean, who survives. She also leaves three sons, Bill, Johnny and Dave Jean, all of Caruthersville; a daughter, Mrs. Eula Brammery of Centralia, Ill.; two brothers, Jesse Abbott of Cottonwood and Carl Abbott of Portageville; two sisters, Mrs. Maud Cook of Portageville and Mrs. Blanch Horner of Caruthersville; two half-brothers, Granville Abbott of this city and Pete Abbott of Temple City, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
