Alvin Nichols was a carpenter. He worked on WPA projects during the Great Depression, then on construction of the Great Lakes Naval Training Base, and at Camp Sherman. He worked as an independent contractor building homes after World War II.
He was a devout Christian, and was known as a very generous man.
He was devoted to his wife Ada, and to his children, 9 of whom lived to adulthood.
