From March 30,1942, to January 10,1946 Roy served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He attained the rank of tec 4 and was a truck driver during his tenure of duty. He was also awarded several medals and awards, to include the Sharpshooter badge for carbine.
He had two brothers, Eugene and Donald and one sister Daisy.
In his younger days, Roy drove a tanker truck hauling fuel. Later, he worked with all kinds of glass (windows). He was also known for volunteering his glass work with churches and other needy groups.
Roy was a staple at the local McDonald's restaurant where he always liked to have breakfast. So much so, that they closed the morning of his funeral, so the employees could attend.
We could always tell when uncle Roy was visiting. Before we saw him, you could smell the plesant aroma of his distinct cigars. Always a welcome smell.
Roy was loved by family and many others, and will be sadly missed..
