Early Settler of County Dies
Patrick Maher, 78 years old, Answers Final Summons at Home in Goodhue
Patrick Maher, one of the early settlers of Goodhue county, and for the past fifteen years a highly esteemed resident of Belle Creek, passed away Thursday morning at his home. He had been in failing health of late years and for the past few weeks had been in a critical condition. He was born in Ireland and came to Goodhue County in the early days, settling on a farm in Roscoe, south of Zumbrota. Later he moved to Belle Creek where he purchased the old Foss homestead. For the past year the family lived in Goodhue village. He is survived by his wife, two sons, John and William Maher, and three daughters, Mrs. D.W. Franklin and Mrs. John Franklin of Belle Creek and Miss Lizzie Maher of Goodhue. The funeral was held Saturday morning at St. Columbkill's Catholic church. Requiem high mass was celebrated by Rev. Father Ennis.
