Alfred Richard Anacker, son of Richard C. And Cyrenna (Haeska) Anacker, was born Aug. 15, 1923, on the same farm as his father (which his grandfather homesteaded in 1872) in Selma Township, Cottonwood County; attended school in Darfur at District 40; baptized on April 3, 1947 at the First Congregational church in Comfrey and was confirmed on Feb. 24, 1949 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Darfur by Rev. E. C. Schmelzer.
Alfred's dad raised purebred Black Poland China hogs, while Alfred raised purebred Spotted Poland China hogs. He showed both breeds at county and state fairs. On Dec. 67, 1948, he married Wilma E. Wolle at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Darfur. They continued farming, raising livestock and other farm animals. Alfred had a nice herd of registered Polled Holstein milk cows. He had a life-time membership in the "Holstein-Friesian Association of America." In 1972, they had a new home built on the east edge of Darfur, where they made their home and brought the "Game Bird Farm" with them; Alfred semi-retired from farming in the spring of 1980, continuing with his game farm and miniature horses until retiring in 1998. He enjoyed going to horse and poultry shows. He also enjoyed reading newspapers, magazines and listening to radio; survived by his wife, Wilma Anacker of Butterfield; two sons, Richard (Diana) Anacker of Comfrey and Miles Anacker of Fairmont; three daughters, Linda (Dick) Southworth of St. Joseph, Gale (Stan) Friesen of Fort Collins, Colo., and Marlene (Larry) Peters of Darfur; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and a brother, George (Caroline) Anacker of St. James; preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Wesley and Dale Anacker, three brothers, Albert, Edward and Christian Anacker, and a sister, Irene Anacker.
Funeral services were held at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church in Darfur with Rev. Troy Jacobs officiating and interment was at the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Darfur; funeral arrangements were handled by Bjerum Funeral Home in Mt. Lake.
