Charles "Ed" Cook, 81, 142 Carver Crabtree Road, Hampton, died Thursday, January 25, 2001, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness.
Mr. Cook was a native of Avery County, N.C., but had lived most of his life in Carter County. He was the son of the late Millard Cook and Ida McGuire Cook Ramsey.
Mr. Cook was a member of Rittertown Baptist Church. He retired from Empire Furniture Company in Johnson City in 1985.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Carver Cook, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Brookie Potter, Elizabethton; a son, William E. Cook, Johnson City; and a sister, Dosi Stanberry, Chapel Hill, N.C. Six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

COOK -- Funeral services for Charles "Ed" Cook, 81, 142 Carver Crabtree Road, Hampton, who died Thursday, January 25, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, January 26, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with the Rev. Tommy Haynes officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mrs. Brenda Barnett, soloist. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 27, at Rittertown Baptist Church Cemetery in Hampton. Active pallbearers will be the Starlin Odom Sunday School Class. Honorary pallbearers will be Norman Carver, George Spain, Garfield Ramsey, Raymond Ramsey and friends and neighbors. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Saturday for the graveside services. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence, 142 Carver Crabtree Road, Hampton, any time.
