One of the reasons we know this William Hall is the son of Fenton Hall.

From deed book I-J pg. 161
State of South Carolina, Pendleton District.
Know all men by these presents that we, Fenton Hall and William Hall both of the state and district aforesaid have bargained and agreed as follows that is to say that "I Fenton Hall do bind myself, my heirs and Executors to keep in a decent manner the two children of the said William Hall, that is to say John Hall and Serenah Hall until they are of age in the common necessarys of Life and to give them common schooling for which the said William Hall do hereby give unto Fenton Hall one Sorrel Mare, five head of cattle, one feather bed and furniture with my other household now in his possession to be to him and to his use an to his heirs or assigns in testimony of which we have signed these presents
and sealed them with our seal this 27th of January 1808 in the presence of us.
