Lydia and Thomas became the parents of five known children: Olive, Johannah, Robie [aka Roby, Rhobe], Oren and Ira Allen Pell. On this 31st day of May 1841 personally appeared before me Abraham J. Lyon one of the judges of the court of common pleas in and for said County of Allegany, Lydia Pell a resident of the town of Centerville in the County of Allegany and state of New York, aged eighty four years, who being first duly sworn, according to law, doth on her oath make the following declaration, in order to obtain the benefits of the provision made by the act of Congress passed July 4th 1836, Entitled an act granting half pay and pensions to certain widows and other persons.
That she is the widow of Thomas Pell, who was a Sergeant in the army of the Revolution. That he resided at the commencement of the Revolution in the town of East Hoosuck in the County of Berkshire and State of Massachusetts. That he enlisted and served under Captain Enos Parker in the year 1776. That she the said Lydia Pell resided at the same time in the town of Hoosuck aforesaid. That he the said Thomas Pell returned home on furlow and that she the said Lydia was married to the said Thomas Pell in the month of September she thinks on the 23rd day 1776 and that the said Thomas Pell her husband remained at home with her about three weeks, and went back to the service in the army, was stationed at or near Boston, that after serving something more than one year he left the service and they then moved to the town of Clarendon in the county of Rutland in the State of Vermont in the year 1778.
-- That after settling in the said County of Rutland he was called into service and was attached and served under Captain Sawyer and was in the service more or less from that time till the close of the war -- That Previous to his leaving the State of Massachusetts he received a certificate of services or discharge from the said Captain Enos Parker and That the said certificate has ever since been kept in her husbands and her possession to this time and will be herewith enclosed ---
She further declares that she was married to the said Thomas Pell on or about the 23rd day of September in the year 1776, in the town of East Hoosuck in the County Berkshire and State of Massachusetts and that the marriage ceremony was performed by the Reverend Elder Todd, Presbyterian Preacher of said town, and also at that time a Justice of Peace. And she further declares that her name previous to her marriage to said Thomas Pell was Lydia Colvin. That she continued to reside with her husband the said Thomas Pell to the day of his death; that he died in the town of Centreville in the County of Allegany and State of New York on the 14th day March 1826. She further declares that she has no family record of the date of her marriage or the ages of her children --
