Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at Eastwood Memorial Methodist Church, with the Rev. Floyd V. Brower officiating. Burial was in Little Prairie cemetery, with LaForge Undertaking Company service.
Mr. Burton was born May 29, 1871 in Obion County, Tenn. and came to Southeast Missouri in the early 1900's. After living at Rives for a few years, he moved with his family to Caruthersville in 1918 and had lived here since that time. He became a member of the Methodist church in 1957.
He leaves one son, Odie Burton of St. Louis; five daughters, Mrs. Lillian Nichols of this city, Mrs. John Bishop of St. Louis, Mrs. Barney Blackard, Punta Gorda, Fla., Mrs. Dixie Ridings, Artesia, N. Mex. and Mrs. Helen Tillery, Birmngham, Ala.; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His wife, Mrs. Ruth Burton passed away last March 29th.
