Clark Hopkins came to Centerville with his parents two sisters, and a brother-in-law Jesse Bullock in 1812. Clark settled in the middle section of Lot 33, and married Phebe Morrill in 1814. In 1833, not long after building a frame house, Clark died at the age of 48 leaving behind ten children aged 1-18 years. Phebe, his window, kept the homestead and continued to raise all of their children until her death in 1856. The homestead and cemetery were then passed on to their son, Amos Hopkins, a Civil War veteran, who may also be buried in the cemetery in an unmarked grave.

This family carries the title of "Mayflower Descendants". They can be traced to Stephen Hopkins, and his son Giles Hopkins who sailed the Plymouth aboard the Mayflower and/or the first Thanksgiving.
