Rev. Bumgarner was the pastor of Spencer Baptist Church in Spindale, NC for many years. He was at Spencer when I began attending as a child around 1965, married me in 1980 and retired soon after due to cancer. He also pastored churches in other areas, but I can only remember him speaking of Taylorsville, NC. Rev. Bumgarner was also a skilled beekeeper who kept some of his bees on our farm, helping pollinate crops and providing us with honey. A fellow redhead, he was tall in stature both physically and spiritually.∼s/o C M Bumgardner, Emma Deal
