Harriet E. Garski, age 79, formerly of Rosholt, WI, died Saturday morning, Jan. 25, 2003, at Portage County Health Care Center.
The funeral Mass was held on Tuesday at St. Adalbert Catholic Church, Rosholt, the Rev. Marcin Mankowski officiated. Burial in the parish cemetery. Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home, where Sacred Heart Rosary Society combined with a general rosary.
Born Dec. 8, 1923, in the town of Sharon, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Mizek) Gagas.
Her marriage to Walter Garski took place on May 3, 1941, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Polonia. After their marriage, the couple settled for two years in Shantytown then purchased a farm in the town of Alban and farmed for many years. In 1961, they sold the farm and moved to Rosholt.
She was employed at St. Michael's Hospital in laundry and housekeeping from 1962 until her retirement. Her husband died March 18, 1995.
Harriet was a member of the Sacred Heart of Polonia Rosary Society. She enjoyed gardening, family get-togethers, church picnics, camping, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons, Jerome (Arlene) Garski, Bevent, Michael (Joy) Garski, Rosholt, and Jeffery (Karen) Garski, Custer; six daughters, Virginia (James) Golke, Wisconsin Rapids, Judy (Wayne) Olds, Plover, Sandra (Thomas) Mocadlo, Stevens Point, Diane (David) Winkler, Stevens Point, Debra (Lee) Wagner, Rosholt, and Lori (Richard) Wagner, Rosholt; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Leo (Elizabeth) Gagas, Custer.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, four sisters and two brothers.
