George married (firstly) on July 5, 1919, at Oakland, Alameda County, California, to Eleanor Taylor Ellis.

George married (secondly) on June 19, 1935, at Riverside, Riverside County, California to Cronis Geraldine Maunt Huntzinger.

George married (thirdly) on October 26, 1946 at Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada, to Mary Catherine MacGregor.

In 1915 George worked in a toy factory before going to work in a shipyard. He enlisted in the United States Navy on February 18, 1919. On May 21, 1919 he was promoted from Apprentice Seaman to Seaman 2nd Class, and to Fireman 3rd Class on December 1, 1919. He was promoted to Gunners Mate 3rd Class Petty Officer in 1920. George served on the U.S.S. Battleship Texas, when it sailed through the Panama Canal and to Chile. He was the Fleet Boxing Champion for his weight class. He was honorably discharged on December 20, 1921.

After the navy George continued boxing for several years becoming a Golden Gloves titleholder. During his professional career he never lost a fight. After which he became a racetrack handy caper and owned a racehorse, which ran at Santa Anita Race track. He was also a part owner in a gambling casino. He became an Engineer for Douglas Aircraft Company with whom he stayed until retiring in 1971.
