Evelyn G. Petersen Broberg passed away Sept. 23, 2006, at the age of 88 of congestive heart failure.

Evelyn was born on Aug. 19, 1918, in Hyrum, to Algernon and Leah D. Petersen.

She graduated from South Cache High and spent her summers as a youth on the family-owned Hardware Ranch. She married Paul Broberg in Brigham City, and later their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on Jan. 3, 1958. All her married life was spent in Pocatello, Idaho. It was there that twin sons and two daughters were born and raised. Her years in Pocatello were filled with the activities of a wonderful homemaker and mother. She also worked for many years at Idaho State University as interim manager for Saga Foods, retiring at the age of 70.

She was active in her church where she served 17 years in the Primary organization both on the ward and stake level. She served as an ordinance worker in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple and was a faithful member of Relief Society. She was a visiting teacher for 60 years, and was also a devoted member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Our mother was a happy, positive person with a great sense of humor. She was a marvelous cook and our best friend.

She is survived by two sons, Richard P. (Carolyn) of Pocatello and Robert D. (Mary Ann) of St. George, Utah; daughters, Dorothy M. (Bill) Barnard of Reno, Nev., and Geraldine of Pocatello; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Helen Olsen (Art); and brothers, Richard Petersen, (LaDawn), Cy Petersen (Inez) and Marcus Petersen (DeLaine).

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday Oct. 2, at the Pocatello L.D.S. Sixth Ward chapel located at Princeton and Terry, with Bishop Lee Reddish, officiating.

Interment will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens following the services.
