Rosanne Moore Barnes
FORT MILL -- Mrs. Barnes, 80, of 104 E. Summersby Street, died March 15, 2006, at Piedmont Medical Center following a prolonged illness.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 17th at 11:00 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Dr. Shelton P. Sanford, III officiating. Before the service, a family graveside service, officiated by Dr. William A. Fox, will be held at Laurelwood Cemetary at 10:00 a.m.
A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Barnes was the daughter of the late John Gettys McCain Nichols and Verna Renfro Nichols. She graduated from Winthrop Training School in 1942 and then attended Winthrop College.
Mrs. Barnes was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and the Glencairn Garden Club. She enjoyed cooking, bridge, and golf. Her home was always open to friends and family. Holidays and family celebrations were a great source of joy.
She is survived by her husband Ladson A. Barnes, Jr. and her children, Rosanne Moore Dover, Frances Moore Harp, Martha Moore Elliott, Gilmore Stevens Moore, Jr., James Stuart Moore, Louise Moore Mickle, Rebecca Barnes Francis, Lucille Barnes Glass, Ladson A. Barnes, III, her grandchildren, Jamie Dover, Beth Harp Gettys, Anna Harp, Jennifer Elliott Page, Keith Elliott, Eleanor Elliott, Elizabeth Moore Barbery, Kathryne Moore Sanford, Hollis Moore, Anne Moore, Neely Moore, Stuart Moore Richard Mickle, Sarah Louise Mickle, Mary Sanders Lazenby, Frank Marshall, Katherine Francis, Tyler Francis, Casey Barnes, Shaun Barnes, 7 great grandchildren, and her dear friend, Maggie Dodds.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gilmore Stevens Moore, her sister, Louise Nichols Moore of Manning, SC, and her brother, John McCain Nichols, of Rock Hill, SC.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Elliott, 1722 Trellis Drive, Rock Hill, SC, and following the service in the parlor of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Rosanne's memory may be given to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1300 India Hook Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732, Carolina Mission Resources International, 143B Glenwood Drive, Rock Hill, SC, 29732, or the charity of choice.
