"OTTIE MINERVA GREINER was born on May 26,1881 in Kirksville, Adair County, Missouri [the daughter of GEORGE FRANKLIN GREINER and MARY FRANCES (GILMOUR) GREINER, and died there in April 1987].
When a small child she and her family lived in Merceline, then returned to their home near Millard. Later they moved to Kirksville where she finished her education in the public schools and graduated from the Kirksville Normal School in 1902, receiving a life teaching certificate.
She launched on her teaching career in Iowa, but returned home to teach because of the illness of her mother. After two years she accepted a teaching position in Kansas City in Kornes Elementary School. Those years were rich and full of wonderful experiences...
Again she was called home on account of the illness of her mother and started teaching in Kirksville in 1921. In 1927 she was elected principal of Benton School and taught sixth grade until 1949 when she retired. It was then that she accepted the position of librarian at he Sojourners Public Library.
Miss GREINER loved travel and in 1908 and again in 1946 she spent the summer in Oregon and California. In 1942, she toured historic Virginia and Washington, D.C. In 1967, she was a delegate of Ann Haynes chapter of the DAR to the Continental Congress in Washington, D.C. Through her interest in the DAR she has become a genealogist and has helped many to establish their lines through membership..."
