After Dad died in '54, you raised five kids with determination & love...

After I got out of the U.S. Army in '68, and your birthday (Dec 25) was coming up in 1970, I was at Neita's in Baytown as I wondered what I could get for you and decided to write you a very neat poem describing my thoughts of a wonderful mother. It was entitled "What Mom's Are For".... Neita read it & and was emotional and cried... It was from my heart, because I was grateful you were my Mom!!

Kinder- Juanita Baggett, 97, passed away Friday, September 22, 2017 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Baggett moved to Kinder in September of 1952 with her husband Mayo Baggett, and children from Jasper, TX. In 1954, she became a widow and with the Lord’s help raised her five children alone. Many people may know Mrs. Baggett as “Nurse Baggett”. She cared for many people in our community. She started her nursing career working nights at the Kinder Hospital. Three years later, she began working with Dr. John W. Mayes and she worked beside him until they retired at age 75. Others might recognize Mrs. Baggett from passing by her beautiful yard, where you would find her most days tending to the wide variety of plants she loved to grow. Mrs. Baggett also loves to make quilts. She has taken time to make all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren one of her unique pieces that has a little of her heart sewn in it.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 7PM at Reed Funeral Home of Kinder. Visitation will be Saturday from 6PM-8PM. Graveside service will be Sunday, September 24, 2017 at 1PM at Little Hope Cemetery near Jasper.

The obituary was written by the family, (granddaughter T. Mabe) for the Reed Funeral Home on the date of her death, Sept 22 2017.
