Anna Barbara (___?) Kuhn

Submitter's note: "I want to say her maiden name was "Ickeroth" but still has yet to be proven." (Joseph)
Update note: If she turns out to be Anna Barbara (Ickerodt) Kuhn then she was born in 1702

Update note: "The Anna Barbara that was married to John Jacob Kuhn abt 1696 - 14 Feb 1751 was Anna Barbara Adam as the daughter of Hans Jacob Adam 24 Jul 1692 - 29 Sep 1762 and Margaretha Schaefer abt 1684 - 26 Jan 1753. On this Anna Barbara Kuhn there are some conflicts in her date of birth and marriage with both born and married in 1716. (Information provided by Larry G. Britner)."

Wife of John Kuhn 1

Study of the Goshenhoppen Registers suggest that the founder of the Kuhn family branch with which we are concerned, was undoubtedly John Kuhn 1.
His home "Near Cedar Creek in Macungie Township" was frequently used as a Catholic Missionary stop/station/mass-house during the period of 1742-1751 (Goshenhoppen Registers, page 3 thru 17; "Records", Volume 2, pages 317 thru 332). During this period, his wife identified in the Registers as Anna Barbar, (maiden name not given). The Registers also suggest through associations that at least four of his children were: John George 2; Joseph 2; Eva Mary 2; and Henry 2- not in order of birth. John Kuhn 1 may have had other children who did not appear in the Goshenhoppen Registers. (WK-book, page 557)

The map of Macungie/Whitehall/Salisbury Townships whos that Cedar Creek extends in an Eassterly direction from present day Lower Macungie Township through South Whitehall Township into the corporate limits of Allentown part in Whitehall and part in Salisbury Townships. This area was under the jurisdiction of Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, until 11 March 1752 when it became part of Northampton County, Pennsylvania. (WK-book, page 557)

On February 1751, a year before this change in jurisdiction took place, John Kuhn 1, carpenter, with whom Reverend Theodore Schneider, founder of Goshenhoppen was accustomed to live, died intestate, probably at his home near Cedar Creek, Macungie Township. (GR, page 116; "Records", Volume 3, page 393; Philadelphia County Administration / Probate File #35, Book F, page 318 John Koone, (sic).

John Kuhn's widow, Anna Barbara survived him, renouncing, in May 1751, her rights to administer his estate in favor of their probably oldest son, Henry. Date, place and circumstances of Anna Barbara's death are unknown. (WK-book, page 557)

"In an effort to determine his date of arrival in America, I have searched the immigration ship lists of Strassburger and Hincke for the results of my review were inconclusive" (WK-book, page 557, quoted by William Kirkpatrick)
