Mr. Walter R. Wright, Sr.
Walter R. (Sailor) Wright Sr., 72, of 207 S. Walnut St., West Chester, husband of Esther Woodward Wright, died yesterday at Elsmere Veterans Hospital, Elsmere, Del. Following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Wright was born in West Grove, son of the late William and Sara Pierce Wright. He lived in the West Chester area nearly all his life and retired in 1953 from the U.S. Navy as a chief quartermaster with 22 years service.
He was employed by Grocery Store Products, West Chester: 10 years.
Besides his wife, Mr. Wright is survived by six sons, Paul W., Walter R. Jr., Clifford J. and John R., all of West Chester, and Harry F and Rodney E. both of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters Betty L., wife of Wilbur B. Kelly of Downingtown, and aMary Ella, wife of Davis Charlton of Las Vegas; a brother, William A Wright of Wellsboro; 23 grand children and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Oliver P. Founds Funeral Home, High and Union Streets, West Chester. Interment in Philadelphia Memorial Park, Frazer.
