Lydia Katherine Petersen, daughter of Peter and Karen Petersen, was born at Ruskin, Nebraska, on April 9, 1900. She was baptized and confirmed at the Bethany Lutheran Church of Ruskin and was an active member all her life.
She was united in marriage to Anker Petersen on December 31, 1921. Seven children were born to this union.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and by her husband on May 30, 1957.
She passed away at Nuckolls County Hospital on February 9, 1969, at the age of 68 years and 10 months.
Her survivors include her children: Hartley of Hardy, Nebraska; Eunice (Mrs. Ried Neve) of Allison, Iowa; Ellis of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Jeanette (mrs. Duane Lubkeman) of Hampton, Iowa; Lyle of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Marietta (Mrs. Norman Stenson) of Hardy, Nebraska and Marilyn (Mrs. Marvin Meyer) of Omaha, Nebraska; 20 grandchildren and one sister, Tilda (Mrs. Carl Petersen) of Eugene, Oregon.
Memorial services were held on Wednesday, February 12, 1969, at 2:00 p.m. from the Bethany Lutheran Church of Ruskin, Nebraska, with Pastor Edward Hiller officiating. Interement was in the Spring Creek Cemetery at Ruskin. The Megrue Funeral Home of Superior, Nebraska was in charge of arrangements.
