Marietta Karen Petersen Stenson, the daughter of Anker and Lydia Petersen, was born on October 10, 1937 on the family farm near Hardy, Nebraska. She passed away on July 7, 2013 at Superior Good Samaritan Society in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 75 years, 8 months, 27 days.

Marietta was baptized at her parents' home on October 30, 1937 and she was confirmed in June of 1950 at the Bethany Lutheran Church near Ruskin, Nebraska. She attended grade school through the 8th grade at Weimer rural school north of Hardy and graduated from Ruskin High School at Ruskin in 1955, She worked in secretarial work until 1959 when she married Norman Stenson. Three children were born to this union. In 1986 Marietta graduated from the Cloud County Community College as a registered nurse, working at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, the Home Health Service in Omaha, the Nebraska Health and Human Service and at the Victorian Legacy Assisted Living until 2009.

Marrietta's greatest pleasure was being with her three children, spouses and grandchildren. She particularly enjoyed going to the grandchildren's sports and music events, and taking weekend trips together. Marietta was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ruskin and then transferred and served as Sunday School teacher, choir director and church organist and pianist for many years at the Centennial Lutheran church in Superior. She was also a charter member of the Farmerettes ladies singing chorus, which she has been actively singing and entertaining audiences in many places for 50 years. She also enjoyed traveling.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lydia and Anker, brothers Hartley and Ellis Petersen, sister Eunice Neve and brothers in law Reid Neve, Duane Lubkeman and a niece Sonja Petersen.

She is survived by her three children, Dana Eitzmann and husband Tim of Hardy, Nebraska, Kent Stenson and wife Kayleen of Rapid City, South Dakota and Carol Frink and husband Wade of Fremont, Nebraska. Grandchildren, Bryce Eitzmann of Garden City, Kansas, Todd Eitzmann and fiancée Lauren Hoops of Cambridge, Nebraska, Jacob, Jason, Jessica and Jazmine Frink of Fremont, Nebraska, Angela Adams and a great-grandson Riley Adams of Rapid City, South Dakota. Her twin sister, Marilyn Meyer and husband Marvin of Omaha, Nebraska, brother, Lyle and Beverly Petersen of Blue Hill, Nebraska, sister, Jeanette Lubkeman of Ankeny, Iowa, sister-in-law's Jane Petersen of Ruskin, Nebraska and Bonita Bakker and husband Meint of Madison Wisconsin, 17 nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
