Ethel Mae Frye, 91 years, went home to heaven on September 13, 2009 at The Neighborhoods at Quail Creek, Springfield, Mo. Mae was born August 2, 1918 in Douglas County, Mo., to James Burton and Lillie (Wilson) Burton.

On April 20, 1935 Mae and Randy Frye were united in marriage and to this union seven children were born. She was a resident of the Ava community since 1981 moving from Squires, Mo. Mae was a Christian and a member of Springcreek General Baptist Church. While in Ava she attended the Ava General Baptist Church. Mae enjoyed sewing and cooking for her family and friends. Mae loved gardening and flowers. Mae and Randy's door was always open and they never knew a stranger.

Mae was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Randy; one daughter, Jaunita; two sons, James and Lawrence; three sisters, Elva Fantucchio, Neva Burton and Dessie Faye Burton; two brothers, Jessie and Virgil Burton; a son-in-law, Vernon Denney; and a great grandson, Zephan Lawrence.

Mae is survived by four children, Lula Mae Denney, Janice Frye-Spicer and husband, Martin, all of Ava, Mo., Mary Ann Hammond and husband, Jerry, Nixa, Mo., and Glenda Crafton and husband, Junior, Ridgedale, Mo.; five grandchildren, Jeff Denney, Melissa and Robert Lawrence, Eric and Cindy Frye, Dustin and Haili Crafton, and Christopher Crafton; six great grandchildren, Josh, Jessica, Jacob, Zimran, Zackry and Rose; two step great- grandchildren, Tawny & Jessie; two brothers, John Burton and Tom Burton both of Ava, Mo.; many special nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mae will be Wednesday, September 16, 2009, at 10 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Mo., with burial in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 15, 2009 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Oren Alcorn and Rev. Tom Johnson.

Memorials may be made to Spring Creek Cemetery or the donor's choice of charity.
