Known affectionately to all as "Beeson". As a young boy, he grew up in the Elkhart-Grapeland, Texas area and attended their public schools. At the outbreak of World War II, Beeson enlisted and served with the U.S. Army during European invasions. Fighting under General George S. Patton Jr (3rd Army 602nd Tank Destroyer Battalion) in M-18 Tanks know as the Hellcats. He was a tank commander. Upon his discharge, he began his longtime association with the Houston Lighting and Power Company. Beeson started his HL&P career in 1946 at Magnolia Park where he met and married Shirley Ruth Waldrip, January 18,1947, also working at Magnolia Park as a secretary. Beeson and Shirley both then transferred to Hiram Clarke in 1954, where Beeson accepted a head linemans job. In 1964 was transferred to Wharton, Texas as a trouble shooter. He retired in April of 1985 as Foreman of the Transmission and Distribution Division of Wharton, Texas, with 39 years of service. Beeson was a past master and member of the Wharton Masonic Lodge No.624, AF & AM ,a charter member and director of C.C.A.P.(Concerned Citizens Against Pollution), a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No.66, a member of the Iago Federated Church and a 21 year area resident. During his short lived retirement, he enjoyed riding his cutting horse, known only as paint. Children of Elvin G. Beeson are Linda Beeson Jacobson, Sharon Lorine Beeson Boyd, and Stephen Gary Beeson. He had 6 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.
